About Darul Uloom Austin

Darul Uloom Austin (DUA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit institution with a mission to prepare future leaders with sound Islamic knowledge and spiritual and ethical values, rooted in the sacred teachings of the Qur'an and Sunnah.

Over the years, DUA has grown to operate multiple campuses including NAMCC, ICBC, and GIC, offering full-time and part-time Hifdh, After School, and Seminary programs. The institution is powered by dedicated teachers, experienced scholars, and a nurturing community.

To prepare future leaders who embody Islamic knowledge and uphold the spiritual and ethical teachings of Islam—empowering them to contribute positively to their families, communities, and the world.

Our Growth

Starting in 2007 at NAMCC, DUA has since expanded to include girls and boys full-time programs, Naseeha seminary programs, Deen Intensives, and GIC academic tracks. In 2025, DUA celebrates its 16th graduation with 28 alumni now serving in diverse roles—from Islamic scholarship to industry and higher education.

Our Commitment to Quality

DUA is actively improving curriculum and instruction through standardization, teacher training, Tajweed certification, and technology like Muntazim for student tracking. A dedicated Quality Inspector ensures memorization standards and program excellence across campuses.

Full-Time Quran Hifz Program

Age Requirement: 7 to 15 years

Full-Time Seminary Year 1

The One-Year ʿĀlim Program at Darul Uloom Austin is a transformative experience designed to build a strong foundation in Islamic sciences. Through a full-time schedule and immersive curriculum, students grow spiritually, academically, and personally in a supportive and engaging environment.

For students 14 years old and above

Objectives:

  • To establish a foundational understanding of key Islamic sciences
  • To develop spiritual discipline and character through Islamic teachings
  • To enhance Arabic language skills for accessing classical texts
  • To prepare students for continued Islamic studies or community service
  • To cultivate a deep connection with the Qur'an, Hadith, and Seerah

Naseeha Program

The Naseeha Program is a two-year foundational part-time course designed to provide students with a deeper understanding of their faith. Whether one aspires to become a scholar or serve the community in other capacities, gaining essential Islamic knowledge is crucial. This program offers a balanced curriculum to nurture both the intellect and character of students on their journey of learning Deen.

For students 14 years old and above

September to May

Year 1 & 2: Saturdays & Sundays 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Objectives:

  • To instill a strong foundation in key Islamic sciences
  • To strengthen students' understanding of Arabic for deeper connection with the Qur'an and Sunnah
  • To develop Islamic character and ethical conduct through Tarbiyat (personal development)
  • To prepare students for further Islamic studies or informed engagement in their careers with Islamic values
  • To create a space where students can connect knowledge with action and develop a clear religious identity

Curriculum:

  • Arabic Syntax (ʿIlm al-Naḥw) – Understanding sentence structure to comprehend classical texts
  • Morphology (ʿIlm al-Ṣarf) – Learning word patterns and root meanings to enrich vocabulary and interpretation
  • Personal Development (Tarbiyat) – Cultivating character, discipline, and spiritual refinement
  • Prophetic Narrations (Hadith) – Studying selected ahadith for practical guidance
  • Islamic Theology (ʿAqidah) – Learning core beliefs and how to defend them intellectually
  • Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh) – Studying everyday rulings and legal principles of Islam

The Deen Intensive Program is a focused summer initiative designed to strengthen the Islamic identity of our youth through immersive learning, spiritual development, and character refinement. Grounded in traditional Islamic sciences and tailored to address the challenges of modern life, this program empowers students to live as confident, practicing Muslims in today's world.

For students 14 years old and above

July 23rd to July 25th

Monday to Thursday: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Mufti Faizullah Saleemzai

Principal

Born in Afghanistan, Mufti Faizullah brings over 15 years of experience in Islamic education. He completed the eight-year ʿĀlimiyyah and two-year iftāʾ program, holds a BBA from Pamir Institute and MBA from Texas A&M University. Fluent in Urdu, Pashto, Farsi, and English, he leads curriculum development and administration at Darul Uloom Austin.

Sheikh Hamza Mohamed

Quality Assurance Officer

Born and raised in Somalia with over a decade of experience teaching Quran and Islamic subjects. Completed his Certificate of Islamic Studies at Institute AL Sunnah of Hargeysa and Certificate of Completion for Hifz Quran at Darul Huda. He has led Taraweeh prayers in diverse masjids across multiple countries.

Mufti Maimoon Zaid Ahmed

Director of Tahfizul Quran Program

Born in Fort Collins, Colorado, memorized the Holy Qur'an at age ten in Bangladesh. Studied higher Islamic studies for six years and specialized in Islamic jurisprudence (Ifta) for two more years. Has been serving Darul Uloom Austin in the Tahfizul Quran department since 2019.

Maulana Osama Hussain

Lecturer (Naseeha Program)

Born in Karachi, Pakistan. Memorized the Quran in three years and completed the ʿĀlim course in eight years at a madarsa in Karachi. Since 2011, he has been serving as an Imam, Islamic studies teacher, and Arabic teacher in the United States.

Ustadah Safyah Ashraff

Lecturer (Naseeha Program)

Completed the ʿĀlim program in the UK. She taught at various places in London before moving to Austin. Currently teaches Quran and Islamic studies at Darul Uloom Austin.

Ustadah Shaheen Qazi

Lecturer (Naseeha Program)

Holds an Ijazah in Hafs and Ashara Kubra, completed her Aalamiyyah program at Qalam Institute in 2020. Has prior teaching experience at Al Hikmah and Al Hamd Islamic School, focusing on enhancing student engagement through innovative teaching methods.

Ustadah Saniyah Qazi

Lecturer (Naseeha Program)

Graduate of Qalam Institute's ʿĀlimiyyah Program and recently completed her Iftā studies. Holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Plan II Honors from the University of Texas at Austin. Passionate about Islamic psychology and mental health, she teaches Islamic studies to children, has authored books for young Muslims, and has taught courses for Qalam Institute and Nueces Seminary.

Sister Sara Abdulhadi

Teacher

Originally from Egypt with a bachelor's degree in ICT. Holds an Ijazah in reciting and teaching the Qur'an. Has worked with students of all ages and special needs. Joined Darul Uloom Austin at NAMCC in 2017 and teaches in multiple programs.

Sister Samia Ali Ahmadi

Teacher

From Libya with a degree from Pharmacy School at University of Tripoli. Over 20 years of teaching experience in Austin. Holds CDA certification and certificates in teaching Qa'idah Noorania. Full-time teacher for the girls' Hifdh program at NAMCC since 2019.

Maulana Bilal Patel

Teacher

Born in Los Angeles, California. Memorized the Quran and attained Ijazah in Sab'ah and Asharah Qiraa'ah at Darul Uloom Azaadville, South Africa. Completed the six-year ʿĀlim course in 2022.

Sheikh Mohamed Amine Berkani

Teacher

Born and educated in Algeria. Memorized the Qur'an at age fifteen. Holds a master's degree in Islamic faith and sociology of HR management. Over a decade of teaching experience in Algeria and served as an imam for more than six years.

Hafiz Abdullah Hanzala Khurasani

Teacher

Memorized the Quran and completed Tajweed courses. Has studied Hadith and Fiqh with local Ulama. Teaching Quran, Tajweed, and Islamic studies since 2011 at Darul Uloom Austin. Has led Taraweeh in multiple masajid in the U.S. and overseas.

Hafiza Niama bint Ahmad

Teacher

Born in Chicago and raised in Austin. Graduate of University of Texas with a degree in Human Development and Family Sciences. Certified to teach middle and high school science. Currently the full-time girls' Hifdh teacher at GIC campus and leads the Academic Program there.
